The Shepherd University Environmental Organization is hosting its annual Earth Day celebration on Wednesday, April 20, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on the lawn of the Robert C. Byrd Science and Technology Center. The event, which is free and open to the public, will include environmental displays from students presentations, research, and classwork.
There will be tours of the RED Zone, Shepherd’s renewable energy demonstration site and its new aquaponics system. Other activities planned include a raffle with donated goods, a clothing and goods swap, and a local business that offers ecofriendly merchandise.
The Shepherd Environmental Organization is also hosting a nature photo contest. Photos can be submitted on the groups Facebook page or can be sent to shepenvironmentalorg@gmail.com.
