Li, a member of IEEE for 19 years, was cited for his contributions to image coding, restoration and interpolation. His research focuses on image/video coding and processing to find ways to improve image restoration techniques, resolution quality and compression for storage space.
“I am happy to have my contributions to technical communities’ recognized by this organization,” LI said, “and I am honored to be selected as an IEEEFellow.”
Li received his doctorate in electrical engineering from Princeton in 2000 and started his career at Sharp Laboratories of America in Camas, Washington. He has been a faculty member in the Lane Department at WVU since 2003.
IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization whose mission is to encourage its members to revolutionize technology for the benefit of humanity. Li will be recognized for his elevation to Fellow status at one of IEEE’s international conferences in 2017. He is the second WVUprofessor to be elevated to Fellow status with IEEE this year.
