For the third year in a row, Shepherd University has been named an Arbor Day Foundation Tree Campus USA. To qualify for Tree Campus status, colleges must establish a tree advisory committee, have a tree care plan, verify that plan’s annual expenditures, observe Arbor Day, and create a service-learning project that engages students.
Dr. Courtney Campany, assistant professor of biology, said in the past year tree planting events took place on West Campus and at the Agricultural Innovation Center at Tabler Farm. Shepherd is one of 392 higher education institutions across the country that are designated Tree Campuses.
