WVU Tech will welcome hundreds of middle and high school students from throughout the state for the third annual West Virginia Science, Engineering and Art Fair on Friday, October 16.

The daylong fair is an avenue for students to showcase their work on the state level and is designed to stimulate enthusiasm for science through academic competition and events. It also provides an opportunity for attendees to connect with students who hold similar interests in science, engineering and the arts.

Students will present their work in a symposium and display their research projects, experiments, informational posters, papers and science or engineering-themed works of art in five competition divisions.

Attendees will also participate in competitive and educational events during the “Fun with Chemistry” Olympiad at noon.

The fair kicks off with opening remarks at 9:15 a.m. and project judging runs from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. The winner of each division will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship during the awards ceremony from 1:15 – 2:00 p.m.

The West Virginia State Science, Engineering and Art Fair is hosted and sponsored by West Virginia University Institute of Technology in partnership with the West Virginia Division of Culture and History and the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.
